A Call to Serve
I’m confident that I’m exactly where I’m meant to be. Every job I’ve had has shared one common thread: people. Whether I’m building a brand for an entrepreneur, supporting a candidate in an election, or helping a communications team manage a public crisis, my work as a communications professional has centered on serving others.
I have lived in Loveland for 15 years where I’ve built a life and raised three children. All of my children were educated in Thompson School District. One has graduated and two attend Thompson Valley High School. I am proud to call Loveland home, and Colorado has provided my family with opportunities that I am forever grateful for. At the same time, I understand the struggle of trying to get by, putting the pieces together month by month, and juggling the chaos of being a single, full-time working mom. We live this reality every single day.
I was born and raised in Hawaii, where my father was stationed in the Air Force. Post service, he remained in Hawaii, working as a building contractor and pastor, and together, my parents raised a family. The youngest of three, I spent most of my childhood and young adult life on the Big Island where I was immersed in a very culturally diverse environment. I look back on my childhood with gratitude, knowing that it laid the foundation of understanding, empathy, and compassion for others.
Shaped by Experience
Many experiences in my life prepared me for the call to serve. In 2008, my three-year-old daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. I became her caregiver and advocate, navigating the red tape of the healthcare and insurance industries. In 2011, my youngest son surprised us: He was born with Down Syndrome. Over the past 14 years, not only have I learned how blessed I am to have this amazing person in my life, I’ve also learned how to slow down, move at his pace, and appreciate the world from his point of view – and what a rewarding view it is! I will always be his advocate and caregiver, and I will continue to fight through barriers in our healthcare and education system on his behalf.
In 2022, my best friend, Hugh McKean, passed away, offering yet another pivotal point in my journey. Hugh was the House District 51 Representative and Minority Leader of the Colorado House of Representatives. Knowing it was the right thing to do and to honor him, I filled the vacancy his death left behind. While my service in this capacity was temporary, it changed my life forever and expanded my passion for living with purpose. Today, I feel a responsibility to reclaim this district so that the people of Loveland can, once again, be represented with integrity and honor. I am prepared to step into this role with the knowledge, experience, and relationships in place to get to work.
I stand firm on the principles of liberty. I believe that limited government managed at the level closest to the people ensures their voices can be heard. Fiscal and personal responsibility are non-negotiable, and I wholeheartedly believe that the free-enterprise system provides the greatest pathway to a productive economy and individual prosperity.
I pledge to represent you with honesty, to advocate passionately, and to handle disagreements respectfully. I will always put people before politics and strive to lead with the highest character. I’m ready to work for you and bring integrity and honorable representation back to the people of Loveland.
